Poker Could Be Extended In Massachusetts As State Nears Agreement
Massachusetts could be about to see poker and other gaming sports expanded after the states House and Senate were thought to have reached an agreement.
The area could have three Las Vegas-style casinos opened in the coming years along with another with slot-machines only facility, reports The Boston Globe.
Furthermore, gaming revenues could be taxed at 25 per cent, providing much-needed funding for the local authority, while slot machine takings would require 40 per cent tax.
JP Morgan gaming analyst Joe Greff told the news provider that everyone appears to be in agreement.
“While the ball has just started rolling again, we believe gaming expansion this year has a solid chance of passing, as it appears both the governor and legislative leaders are on board,” he explained.
“We believe the license fees and minimum investment requirements, as well as the tax rates are attractive and in line with those of other regional jurisdictions.”
Meanwhile, Georgia is looking to clampdown on online gambling sites using a flawed interpretation of the state law.
