World Poker Tour Day 2: Hollywood Poker Open
The World Poker Tour is easily one of the most recognizable events in the poker world. Whether it’s on the television, online and mobile sources, or land based tournaments, people are on the edges of their seats as the event takes place.
Andy Whetstone, Leading on the Second Day
Day two of the Hollywood Poker Open for the World Poker Tour has come and the number of players has been considerably cut down to a mere 27 players from the initial 97. During the World Poker Tour Hollywood Poker Open Day 2, Andy Whetstone has taken the chip lead with an impressive 334,400 in his hands. Following his stack of chips from a short distance are Shannon Shorr with 250,900, Ali Eslami with 153,300, and Erik Seidel 133,000. Of course, other players down the ladder include Allen Kessler, William Reynolds, Andy Frankenberger, Chris Bell, Shawn Cunix, and of course, Thomas Marchese.
A Great Play by Whetstone
One of the most memorable plays during the second day of Hollywood Poker Open in the World Poker Tour is when Andy Whetstone when he took down two players from the tournament which in turn got his chips soaring past 300,000. Brady Churches tried to go for the big win and went all in with his hand ending up with a pair of queens while Whetstone managed to get a three of a kind. On the next hand, Luke Staudenmaier raised to 14,200 preflop while both Whetsone and Larry Ormson called. Once the flop revealed a Jack of clubs, 6 clubs, and 2 of hears, Ormson bet 6,000. Staudenmaier called all in as Whetstone made a raise to 20,000. Ormson made the call and a 9 of hearts was revealed. Both of the active players made a check and the river turned out to be a 5 of hearts. Ormson bet a good 9,000 while Whetstone called it. Ormson had queen of clubs and a Jack of hearts but ultimately, Whetman had a pair of 5’s right from the beginning. Staudenmaier on the other hand had an ace of spades and a 10 of clubs.
Overall, it was an exciting second day for the Hollywood Poker Open at the World Poker Tour. Watch out for the third day of the tournament as more action takes place and once players will be cut down to the final ten.
