Travis Makar Shares Shocking Revelations about UB Scandal
For most people, the UB scandal is a dark moment in online poker history that’s never forgotten but better left unmentioned. It’s still a sore spot for most people, to the point that the mere mention of Russ Hamilton’s name is enough to inspire fits of outrage and a steady stream of curses. Now, however, new aspects of the UB scandal were revealed by Travis Makar, one of the major figures involved in the issue. Makar talked to Bryan Micon and Todd Witteles, hosts of “The Cold Call Show” at DonkDown Radio.
Who is Makar?
Those who followed the issue closely will probably remember hearing Travis Makar’s name mentioned repeatedly in reports about the UB Superuser Scandal. Makar was actually named by the Kahnawake Gamign Commission as one of the conspirators. However, he maintains his innocence, saying that he never earned a single penny from Ultimate Bet since he never worked for them. Furthermore, Makar said that he never even used the superuser program. He also maintains that he wasn’t involved in the money laundering. The most cynical people out there will no doubt say that it’s normal for the guy to profess his innocence. You can either completely ignore this guy or listen to what he says; let me tell you, though, his words can be pretty shocking.
Startling Revelations
Makar said that he came to know Hamilton through his computer servicing store. He serviced the computers of several UB top players, namely “Scotty”, “Phil”, and “Annie”. It doesn’t really take much poker knowledge to supply the surnames for those first names. This is his window into the poker industry – an industry that, if Makar is to be believed, is incredibly dirty. According to him, the Russ Hamilton scandal was not even the worst of it. Cheating was widespread in the site, but they wanted to hush it up. As such, Makar says that a lot of guilty culprits walked away clean from the whole issue. He even says that Hamilton is just covering for a lot of people, that he’s just a scapegoat. Makar says that he has documents, records, and e-mails to prove his point and that he submitted it in the hopes that the investigation would be reopened.
The implications of this revelation are incredibly huge. This could reopen old wounds and basically turn the whole poker industry upside down, especially if the ‘culprits’ really are revealed.
