Live Poker Betting now Available

There are times when an idea is ahead of its time, and the world has to wait until technology catches up before the idea can come to life. This is what happened with Live Poker Betting. One TV production company in Ireland called Winmedia came up with the idea of Live Poker Betting way back in 2003. However, the technology was still unavailable back then. Now, with Radio Frequency Card Identification and Internet TV, they have finally been able to apply the idea and they’re offering it to users.

Live streaming is actually something that has been applied by several tours, including the WSOP this 2011. However, there’s always a delay of thirty minutes in the streaming and hole cards are shown so it’s impossible to facilitate live poker betting. However, Winmedia has come up with a way to circumvent this. They have set up two separate streams, the first one being ‘live’ and the second one being ‘delayed’. The live stream shows the flop, the standings, betting frequency of players, odds and statistics. They show the chip count through the RFID, allowing people to make decisions based on the data they see on screen. The hole cards are, of course, not shown. Then, an hour after the live streaming, they’re going to show the delayed stream. The hole cards will be on display so players can see exactly what went on in the hand.

Of course, the tour will have to hire them in order to avail of this procedure. They have this dedicated poker table which can be used for the whole process. However, the downside to this is that the final table players will have to be invited to the studio as VIPs. That way, they can set up a betting/poker feed which the audience can enjoy. They have also set up a panel of ‘experts’ to watch over the broadcasts and act as stewards so that the integrity of the broadcasts will be kept.

Indeed, this is a great new feature that adds a betting feature into a betting game. It’s almost ironic, but then it’s also incredibly fun. You’ve got to credit Winmedia for creating something like this. It seems like poker’s continually evolving and technology’s running with it. With the huge following that poker has these days, Winmedia surely won’t have a difficult time finding an audience for this new invention of theirs.
