Bobby Oboodi Wins WPT Event In Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel & Casino, Takes Home $922,441

Yesterday I blogged about Matt Giannetti winning the WPT in Malta, well now there is another WPT Champion to celebrate as Bobby Oboodi took home $922,441 in winnings when he triumphed in the tournament’s  $3,500 buy-in event at the Borgata Casino, Atlantic City; Oboodi beat Jin Hwang to take the title.

The final table started with Oboodi sharing the lead with WSOP bracelet winner Fred Goldberg. For a brief moment Oboodi separated himself from the field as he shut out Ricky Hale with an A-K to his A-10. Oboodi would temporarily lose these chips to Goldberg later on the the game when he went on to elimate Darren Elias in fifth and Goldberg in fourth to own just under 2/3 of the chips. Hwang took the spotlight for a bit as he eliminated Daniel Buzgon and grabbed the lead of Oboodi, but, Oboodi’s confidence was running high as he regained it. The final hand saw Hwang move all-in on the turn with K-J on a board of  7♣-6♣-6♠-J♣ and was called by Oboodi who had the Q-High Flush. Missing out on the river Hwang had to settle out for second place and a prize of $554,303.
