Ultimate Comps for Casino Players

One of the leading Connecticut casinos is making a major move in the comps stakes as it looks to reward players for their time spend on machines at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The new compensation scheme will feature special software and hardware that will allow them to print promotional materials for players that are tailored to their individual gambling habits.

The high-tech system, developed by TransAct Technologies of Hamden, consists of a device that attaches to TransAct printers previously installed in some 3,000 slots at Foxwoods. It links to software that tracks players’ gaming preferences and buying habits – information collected on the magnetic strips of player’s club cards.

Foxwoods, the first casino to feature the system, has been testing it on 300 machines since late last year. The casino could eventually extend its use to all 6,600 machines at Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand.

“We’re always looking for ways to differentiate Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods from the competition and believe this partnership will help us do just that,” Lou Rosa, Foxwoods’ vice president of slot operations, said in a statement.

The system will enable the casino to provide players with special drawing entries, real-time promotional coupons and marketing messages and coupons for restaurant meals, show tickets and hotel rooms, among other things, Foxwoods’ announcement said.

Rather than a simple points based system the new software allows MGM Grand at Foxwoods to give its gamblers the actual casino promotions that they might be interested in alongside all the other rewards they get.
